HEALTH CARE

Building Healthier,
Informed and Resilient Communities

At Asaba Memorial Education Foundation (AMEF), we recognise that health and wellbeing are essential to education, opportunity and community development. Our Health Programme works with schools, young people, women, families and communities to strengthen health awareness, disease prevention, healthy practices and access to reliable health information and appropriate services.

Through community engagement, school-based activities and partnerships, we are helping people gain the knowledge and support they need to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

Our Health Programmes

Health education and prevention for stronger, safer communities.

HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention

AMEF conducts community-based HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention activities that promote accurate information, responsible prevention practices and informed health choices.

Our work focuses on improving HIV prevention literacy, addressing stigma and misinformation, encouraging voluntary testing and helping community members understand available prevention, treatment and support services.

Where specialised or clinical services are required, AMEF works to connect community members with qualified health professionals and authorised health facilities.

School Health and Wellbeing

AMEF integrates health and wellbeing education within its work with schools and learners, recognising that healthy children are better able to attend school, participate in learning and realise their potential.

Activities promote personal hygiene, sanitation, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles and general wellbeing, while encouraging learners to develop positive health practices that extend beyond the classroom.

We also engage teachers, parents and caregivers where appropriate to help create healthier and safer learning environments.

Girls' Health and Menstrual Wellbeing

AMEF supports girls with practical information and awareness on personal hygiene, menstrual health and hygiene, general wellbeing and other health issues that can affect school attendance, confidence and participation in education.

Our approach promotes dignity, informed decision-making and supportive environments where girls can discuss health and menstrual wellbeing without unnecessary stigma.

Where resources and partnerships allow, these activities are complemented by practical support that helps vulnerable girls manage menstruation safely and remain engaged in education.

Community Health Education and Prevention

AMEF uses community engagement and outreach to increase access to clear, practical and reliable health information.

Working through schools, community structures and local engagement platforms, we promote awareness of disease prevention, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and other priority health issues affecting children and families.

The emphasis is on helping communities understand preventable health risks, recognise when professional healthcare may be required and make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

Connecting Communities to Health Services

AMEF recognises that health education alone is not enough. Some community members require professional testing, diagnosis, treatment or other clinical services.

Our role therefore includes helping create linkages between communities and appropriate health service providers, while working with health professionals, government structures and partner organisations where possible.

AMEF does not replace professional healthcare providers. Instead, we strengthen health awareness, prevention, community engagement and appropriate referral to qualified services.

Our Goal

Our goal is to contribute to communities where children, young people, women and families have the knowledge, confidence and support they need to protect their health, prevent avoidable illness and make informed health decisions.

Through collaboration with communities, schools, health professionals, government institutions, donors and development partners, AMEF is working to strengthen healthier and more resilient communities in Kiruli Sub-County and surrounding areas.

Healthier People. Stronger Communities. Brighter Futures.

For AMEF, health is more than the absence of illness. It is an essential foundation that enables children to stay in school, young people to pursue opportunities, families to thrive and communities to build stronger futures.
