Asaba Memorial Education Foundation (AMEF) is committed to protecting children from violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect and all forms of harm. We believe every child has the right to grow, learn and develop in a safe, respectful and supportive environment.
In many communities, children continue to experience physical punishment, bullying, abuse and other forms of harmful discipline at home and in schools. These experiences can create fear, affect children's confidence and negatively impact their education and wellbeing.
AMEF believes this must change. We cannot continue watching children experience violence as a form of discipline. We are committed to helping break this cycle.
Our programme
What We Do
Through our Child Protection Programme, AMEF works with children, parents, teachers, schools and communities to promote safe and child-friendly environments.
02 · Training
Safeguarding and positive parenting
Train teachers from primary and secondary schools, parents and community members on child protection, safeguarding and positive parenting.
03 · Community protection
Local networks for child safety
Establish community-based Child Protection Agents and Child Protection School Committees (CSC) to identify protection concerns, promote child safety and support appropriate referrals.
04 · Survivor support
Connections to appropriate care
Connect and support survivors to appropriate psychosocial, health, legal and protection services.
05 · Safe spaces
Shelter and protection
Support the development of safe shelters and protection spaces for vulnerable children and orphans.
06 · Children's voices
Confidence to speak up
Promote safe, child-friendly environments where children can speak up and seek help.
